Health and Safety

Our Safety Management Systems have been implemented for years. Apart from ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, we have adopted the best practices in the industry by setting high standard of internal safety rules. Engineering Division is managed under Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. Salvage and Towage Division is voluntarily certified for compliance with the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code) as the only tug operator with this recognition in Hong Kong.

HUD believes that maintaining a safe and healthy working environment relies on employees' recognition and participation. We engage exclusive training and safety awareness enhancement programs based on employees' job nature. Various promotional activities are arranged including collective performance awards and safety promotion days. Besides, we value employees' opinions as they may bring considerable insights for continuous improvement.

As a port facility serving ships engaged in international voyages, HUD is bound by the International Ship and Port Facility Security ("ISPS") Code and holds regular ISPS drills and exercises to prepare against any potential maritime threat. HUD is well equipped with in-house fire-fighting squad and facilities in case of fire emergency. Joint emergency exercise will be conducted at regular intervals together with governmental departments, for instance, Fire Services Department & Marine Police.
